English as a Second Language
The English as a Second Language (ESL) programs are designed to help students improve their English language proficiency and prepare them for entry into UMass Boston GSSP. The program benchmarks its curriculum to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The CEFR provides a clear set of standards, which help instructors design their courses around realistic learning objectives and map their learners’ progression to make more informed decisions about their language ability. We offer language, culture and academic support for students in the program and make sure they have the skills and ability to succeed in the university academic setting.
